THE GARGOYLES

During his Conquest, Marten swelled the ranks of his armies by conjured a long extinct race of Gargoyles and having them possess the deactivated bodies of the Mechkans - after Mechka fell to him. He used the Gargoyles to invade the Kren state of Pariah as his vanguard force and upon his defeat and death they were freed from their bondage and went wild, wreaking havoc throughout the entire state and effectively seizing control. Small pockets of former slaves and refugees still live throughout Pariah but no form of government exists and the denizens live in constant fear of the Gargoyle reign of terror. The Kren Empire has made many attempts to regain control of Pariah because of the absolutely critical role it has played as the main Western Arcadian supply of raw materials and as the main source of revenue for the empire. While some mines have come back under control of Mordak, most of these efforts have failed and the Kren Empire has been utterly unable to impose any kind of real control over Pariah since the invasion.

Note: As time progressed, the Gargoyles started manifesting their original flesh and blood forms integrated with the remains of the Mechkan bodies creating a hybrid, almost cyborg looking Gargoyle.
